'Games Kids Play' An amazing collection of hundred's of games from the USA and around the world! |
Remember
all those games you played as kid out in the backyard? Where did the
those rules come from? Obviously
there was no "official" rule book, just knowledge passed down
from older kids to younger kids.
The purpose of this award winning site is two-fold; - One, to let you remember some of those odd games we used to play and bring a smile to your face. - Two, to try to catalog a fascinating piece of oral tradition, and make sure none of these games are lost forever. |

Sriwittayapaknam School Thailand |
A school site with lots of Playground games. Here's what the students say: "Many of the games that our students play in the school playground are recognisable the world over: skipping, football, tag and marbles. Some of these have the same rules but different names: are you familiar with the game "Piggy in the middle" where someone standing in-between two other players has to try and grab hold of the ball? In Thai it is called Ling Ching Bon - "Monkey Snatches Ball". The person who plays "it", or ben in Thai, is often chosen using a familiar game called "rock, scissors, paper". In Thai it is called Bao Ying Choob and has the same rules." |

Weetangera Primary Playground Play Program Project |
The Weetangera Primary Playground Play Program was established in July 1996. The program was developed by two teachers at the school, Christopher Duncan and Vivienne Blundell, along with the input and support of the 1996 Year 6 students. This program was developed and established for a number of the following reasons. The school had recently restructured the timetable and this restructuring resulted in the students having a one hour lunch break every day. Due to the increased time in the playground, a number of students were becoming bored and playground problems increased. Year 6 students came up with the idea to run a number of organised games for the younger students in the school at lunch-time. From this initial idea, two teachers devised the following program which enabled a successful student-led Playground Play Program (P.P.P) to be established at Weetangera Primary school. | |
